Everything You Need to Know About ECO4 & GBIS
We know government funding schemes can sometimes feel confusing — so we’ve answered the most common questions our customers in Shropshire, Telford, Wolverhampton, and across the Midlands ask us. From who qualifies to what’s included, here’s everything you need to know before applying.
Yes. Both ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) are government-backed initiatives, funded by the UK’s largest energy suppliers. If you qualify, the cost of your improvements is fully or mostly covered — with no hidden fees.
ECO4: Aimed at low-income or vulnerable households, or those receiving certain benefits. It can also support properties with low EPC ratings (D–G).
GBIS: Broader eligibility. It mainly focuses on insulation and is open to households in council tax bands A–D in England (A–E in Scotland & Wales), even if you don’t claim benefits.
